As we approach a new flying season many will be putting the final touches on new projects. Many will be getting "old reliable" out and ready for a new season.
Just offering a few words of advice and precaution to start on the right foot.  Probably the best insurance against radio failure is a battery check. If you don't have a cycler and voltage meter, buddy up with someone who can help you. This is especially true if your batteries are a couple years old. Beware of the surface change of a freshly charged pack with one bad cell. It will deliver just enough power to get you in the air, range check and all, before the voltage drops below functional level.
Check your fuel. If it sat in an unheated garage all winter it may be bad. You might see small white beads in your fuel. If you are running a ball bearing motor, tune it to a high RPM. If you hear an unusual singing sound this may be signs of inadequate lubrication.
I hope we all have a good flying season, both individually and as a club. Do keep in mind your help with the Fun Flys will go a long way toward paying the bills. At the last meeting we discussed the need for a new safety fence and also for an new tractor shed. These things don't come cheap, so we all need to kick in a little man power to raise money.
Last night I looked through my planes to get ready for a flying season. I was a little surprised. Between the old and fairly new planes there were 10 planes. I don't know if I fly any one as well as I used to when there were only 1 or 2 to choose from. It might be a good idea early in the season (especially if you are a fairly new flyer) to stick to flying your most comfortable ship while you brush off the rust.
Hoping to see you all at the field or at our next meeting.

Sincerely... Dan Scott
